When an advanced illness affects a family, some wounds are invisible. Fear, uncertainty, sadness and loneliness need care and support too.
At Cudeca, we support patients and their families with specialist psychological and social support, because no one should have to face the end of life feeling alone.
Help us keep two Psychosocial Support Teams by our patients’ and families’ sides.
An advanced illness doesn’t only affect the body. It also transforms emotions, family relationships, and the way we face the future.
Fear, anxiety, anticipatory grief, uncertainty and, often, loneliness appear. These feelings aren’t always put into words, but they need to be heard and cared for.
At Cudeca, we believe that caring is much more than treating an illness. It means listening, supporting, guiding, and being present when it’s needed most.
However, specialized psychological and social support depends largely on public solidarity.
Our challenge is to keep the two Psychosocial Teams of the Cudeca Foundation running. They provide psychological and social support to patients with advanced illnesses and their families.
The total cost of these teams for 2027 is €492,054.70. Of this amount, €280,800 has projected external funding, while the rest depends on public solidarity.
We need to raise €212,000 to help sustain this essential support.
Your support helps us maintain the psychological and social support that patients and family members need during an advanced illness and through the grieving process.
There are many ways to be part of this campaign:
Your contribution helps fund our Psychosocial Teams so we can continue to support those who need it most.
Help us reach more people. Share the message with family, friends, and colleagues so that pain that can’t be seen also receives the attention it deserves.
Companies and organizations can join through corporate donations and charity initiatives that help sustain this care.
You can also support our work through our charity shops and other ways of collaborating with the Foundation.
The Emotional First Aid Kit represents everything that helps ease suffering that goes unseen: a conversation, a helping hand, timely guidance, or a safe space to express what we feel.
At the Cudeca Foundation, our Psychosocial Teams work alongside the rest of our professionals to provide personalized support to patients and family members during illness and, when appropriate, through the grieving process.
With your help, we can continue to offer:
Specialized psychologists help people cope with the fear, anxiety, and emotions that come with an advanced illness.
We support families in coping with loss and moving through grief with professional guidance when they need it.
We support family members who care for their loved ones and who also need to feel heard and understood.
Social workers help families learn about available resources, handle paperwork, and cope with situations of vulnerability.
Presence, listening, and personalized support can make sure a difficult moment isn’t faced alone.
When we go through a difficult time, support a loved one through an illness or experience a loss, we also need to look after our emotions.
Sometimes we can’t put a name to what we feel. Other times, we find it hard to ask for help, find a moment for ourselves or know how to support someone who is suffering.
That’s why Cudeca has created the Emotional First Aid Kit: a space with resources and practical ideas to help you understand your emotions, look after yourself and support those around you.
Self-care tools to make time for yourself and recognise your needs.
Guidance on supporting someone who is going through a difficult time.
Ideas to reflect on what you feel and how you can look after yourself day to day.
Explore the resources, choose the one that best fits what you need today and go at your own pace. You don’t have to put everything into practice at once or find all the answers.
This kit is not meant to replace professional support when you need it, but to bring you ideas and tools that can help you day to day.

The CUDECA Foundation is a non-profit organisation that offers free, professional and compassionate support to people and families in Málaga who are going through particularly difficult times. Its work focuses on holistic support, close care and respect for the dignity of each person, through what the Foundation calls its “special kind of caring”. Since it was founded in 1992, the CUDECA Foundation has supported more than 20,000 people and thousands of family members, developing care and support programmes adapted to each situation and setting. Its work reaches both people’s homes and specialist centres, always with an approach centred on the person and their wellbeing.
A cornerstone of this work is the 31 charity shops "Joan by CUDECA", run thanks to the dedication of volunteers and the generosity of the public. These shops generate essential funds to sustain the Foundation’s free programmes and bring its mission closer to the community. The CUDECA Foundation is committed to supporting people with humanity, warmth and respect at key moments in life. To keep doing so, it needs the help of members, donors and volunteers. Because every bit of support adds up and every gesture makes a difference.
Why is this support so important?
The professional and compassionate support offered by the CUDECA Foundation means that many people and families don’t have to face particularly complex situations alone. This support is based on listening, holistic care and attention to the emotional, social and personal needs of each case. In Málaga, many families rely on this support to feel accompanied and cared for. Your help is not a symbolic gesture: it is what keeps this support free and accessible for those who need it most.

When we received the diagnosis, we felt as though our world was falling apart. The Cudeca team listened to us, guided us and helped us face each day. We never felt alone. That meant everything to our family.
Family member of someone cared for by CudecaSometimes, you don’t need answers; you just need someone to sit beside you and listen. At Cudeca, we found that support and the reassurance of knowing that they cared about how we were coping, too.
Family member of someone cared for by CudecaWe were so focused on caring for our loved one that we forgot about ourselves. Thanks to Cudeca, we learnt that our feelings mattered too, and that asking for help was not a sign of weakness.
Family member of someone cared for by CudecaAfter saying goodbye, the emptiness we felt was overwhelming. Having someone who understood our pain helped us navigate our grief, little by little. We will always remember the kindness and humanity with which they supported us.
