“Beauty perishes in life but is immortal in art”.
(Leonardo Da Vinci)
Diego Guerrero, sculptor from Parauta, Serranía de Ronda, presents his “EMOTIONS Exhibition” based on unrepeatable figurative faces in olive root.
His most intimate and personal creation which is reflected in each of the pieces.
The inspiration to create his work is found in the natural environment that surrounds him.
Diego Guerrero, a native of Parauta, began his artistic training in 2004 with the Galician sculptor Ricardo Dávila. He later joined the artistic collective Grupo Algorma, with whom he created large sculptures using natural waste from the Genal valley and participated together in various exhibitions and events.
Later, together with the sculptor David Marshall, he created various works using chestnut wood and cast brass and aluminium to create useful sculptures. Participating in several international fairs such as Intergift in Madrid and Construmat in Barcelona.
In 2006 he set up an art gallery in Parauta, where he offers pieces carved in stone and wood using the direct carving technique.
Between 2011 and 2012 he held various art fairs throughout the province of Malaga. In 2013 he offered several events and exhibitions in Madrid, Arte-Avila, Festival of Nations, Victoria-Gasteiz, Soria, Ayllon, Cáceres and an endless number of fairs in the north of Spain, being present at the 2014 Global Village, Dubai.
In 2017 and 2018 he attended the International Crafts Fair of Burgos and in the latter year he received a special mention in the fifth Pieza Artesana competition awarded by the Burgos Craftsmen’s Collective (Coarte).
Diego expresses his particular vision of life by transmitting the forms of nature in his works, from his workshop he sells pieces to all parts of the world. His creative work is very extensive, both commissioned and his personal and more intimate abstract sculpture.
Nowadays he develops his work in the Genal valley, in his native village, Parauta, where he lives and teaches carving and sculpture, keeping his illusions and his projects fresh, with the effort to make them come true.
