Fundación Cudeca Hospice
We are a hospice that cares for and accompanies people with cancer and other advanced illnesses, and offers support to their families. Completely free of charge.
Our philosophy is based on the philosophy of palliative care, a field in which we have acquired a great deal of experience and competence, and from which we make our special kind of caring a reality. We not only treat the physical side of the illness, but also the psychological, social and spiritual aspects. In short: we work to ensure that patients feel like people right up to the last moment.
Our activity began in 1992 – this year we celebrate our 30th anniversary – thanks to the work and commitment of Joan Hunt. Born in England, and settled on the Costa del Sol, after losing her husband to cancer, she decided to dedicate her life to helping others in the same situation. That is why she founded Cudeca.
Today we continue to offer our care completely free of charge to all those who need us. We know that we cannot add more days to patients’ lives, but we do care to add life to their days.
Every year we care for and accompany more than 1,700 people and, since 1992, we have cared for more than 18,000 patients with its Multidisciplinary Home Care Programme, Day Care Centre & Rehabilitation & Phisiotherapy Unit, In-Patient Unit, Psycho-Social Programme, Counselling and Outpatient Consultation. Our teams of doctors, nurses, psychologists, social workers and physiotherapists take care of every aspect of the patient’s care in detail, respecting their wishes and preferences. All our care is professional and free of charge.
