Xebar regulars raise funds for Cudeca Hospice
The golden girls of Fuente Amarga, Jackie, Jane and Pat held a market day for Cudeca in Villanueva de la Concepción and raised the grand total of 1.222,79€. An enjoyable day was had by all.
The ladies manned lots of stalls with a good selection of good quality clothes, books, bric a brac and home produce such as jams, marmalade, pate and selection of pies. They also held the ever popular Tombola where people really liked to try there luck. An enjoyable day was had by all and the event was so popular that Jackie has been asked to hold another one on the 31st May!
Laura Haggis and David Jelley from the Hospice Centre, were delighted to be invited to the Xebar in Villanueva de la Concepción recently to receive the cheque. “We had a very attentive audience. While we were showing the Cudeca DVD, there was quite an outpouring of emotion from the ladies present as it seems that a lot of them have been touched by cancer in some shape or form. This emotional reaction, while sad, did provoke a sense of ‘wanting to give’. We received assurances that they will spread the word in that part of the ‘campo’ and will take the various posters and leaflets to their friends and outlets in the neighbouring villages. Some of the ladies will take part in our Walkathon 2009 which will be held on 24th May on the beach by the Sunset Beach club in Benalmádena”, quoted David.
Well done everyone!
