Thank you all for remembering Joan through your volunteering
The beginning of the summer was marked by news we wish we had never had to share with you:
The passing away of our beloved founder, Joan Hunt O.B.E.
Her greatest wish was that we would continue to care for Cudeca and maintain the legacy she has left us. With this message we launched a campaign to recruit volunteers in our Charity Shops during the summer when many shifts need to be filled in order to maintain care for our patients and families.
With the slogan, #SummerCudecaSummerDistinct we started a campaign to recruit volunteers in our 25 Charity Shops through television, radio, associations... but with special emphasis on Social Networks so present now in our lives.
Thanks to this appeal, we can only be grateful to the large number of applications received, in which finally more than 130 volunteers have joined in these months. Among them many young people who have done something very special: Transforming their volunteer hours selecting and storing donations, selling them and attending to customers in the shops into end-of-life care by the multidisciplinary team specialised in Palliative Care that accompanies patients and their families in the process of illness on a daily basis.
Their time has helped to care.
We are very happy with the results of the campaign and also for the great reception it has had in our society by spreading the word and collaborating in our cause.
It only remains for us to thank everyone for continuing to remember Joan in the best way we can, making it possible for all patients and families to feel accompanied at all times.
THANK YOU
