Our volunteers united in the World Breast Cancer Day
Our team of volunteers from the Artesanos charity shop in Arroyo de la Miel has gathered once again this morning in solidarity for the World Breast Cancer Day united by the pink colour.
October 19th is globally celebrated as the International Breast Cancer Day with the aim of raising awareness and promoting access to timely and effective screening, diagnosis and treatment for more and more women, as this was a World Health Organization initiative. Early detection to improve the prognosis and survival of breast cancer cases remains the cornerstone of the fight against this illness. Cases of breast cancer are much more frequent in women, but they also occur in a small percentage of the male population.
Our volunteers have gathered together this morning at the Artesanos charity shop to celebrate this day and it has already become a very important tradition among them. They have dressed in pink t-shirts and painted the palms of their hands with pink paint as a wink to all those people who suffer today, have suffered in the past or have lost their battle against breast cancer.
Mª Carmen Salazar, our Shop Controller volunteer of the Artesanos charity shop (Arroyo de la Miel), has helped with her volunteer work for more than 20 years and states that "being a volunteer for CUDECA is a joy and, from the Artesanos shop, we join with great enthusiasm in the celebration of this world breast cancer day". Likewise, Daniel Beaudet, Manager of our charity shops, declared that he was "pleasantly surprised by the excitement and enthusiasm of the team of volunteers from Artesanos who, with their infinite energy, join all the fighters and brave women who are facing this illness today".
