Marbella Golf Country Club helping us since 2015!
On 15 February 2019, the Marbella Golf Country Club organized its popular and traditional open tournament, the Members Memorial Charity Tournament, one more year consecutively to help us continue our special kind of caring.
The Members Memorial Charity Tournament this year was possible thanks to the help of the Marbella Golf Country Club staff and to the collaboration of all members who attended the tournament, raising a total of €620. Since 2015, year in which they started helping us, Marbella Golf CC members have organized 4 charity tournaments raising more than €8.000 in total. The idea of helping CUDECA started with the tournament One Eyed Jack. This tournament was an idea of Jack Smith, a member of Marbella Golf, and participants played in it with a patch over one of the eyes. Jack lost one of his eyes due to a cancer he suffered some years ago. Since 2015, the main goal of the tournaments has been being able to add up to the work that we do, since some of the Marbella Golf Country Club members have been cared by us in the recent past.
The tournament on the 15th February began with a shot gun start at 9:30am and golfers played in Individual Stableford format. Prizes were awarded to the first 3 qualifiers and to the nearest to pin winners:
Winner: Carl Horne with 38 points
2nd: Norman Cameron with 38 points
3rd: Liz Britton with 33 points
Nearest to pin winners: Catherine Shiels & Michael Munden
After the game, a lunch was served with a drink included in the registration fee.
From the Direction of the Club, Satu Kaariainen expressed with enthusiasm: “It’s a great pleasure to do our little part every year to help Cudeca continue with their special way of caring. Many members and the families of our staff members have had to battle with cancer and have been very fortunate to count with the Help of Cudeca in these difficult moments”.
