Lovely words from our dear colleague, Virginia:

"My name is Virginia and I have been trained as a doctor and as a nurse.

I had heard about Cudeca Foundation and its special kind of caring for patients. About 4 years ago, I had the opportunity to see first person what I had heard, when several of its professionals helped with the different illness processes that were diagnosed in family members close to me. And I made the decision to orientate my professional career in that direction.

I learned that they offered university training in which they provided in-depth knowledge of their particular kind of caring for patients. So, during my last year of nursing, I decided to join them and complete the interdisciplinary Masters in Palliative Care.

Today I know that Palliative Care has the capacity to add life to the days, as the motto of the Cudeca Foundation says. By reading the book "Days of Life, conversations with Joan Hunt", I have been able to better understand this philosophy, and at the same time I have been able to meet and admire a great woman who gave all her strength to this project. When life has to end, how beautiful it is to try to make this end happen in an environment where warmth, humanity and serenity are fundamental pillars. Where the multiple facets that make up people are taken into account.

I have been lucky enough to work for a few months as a nurse in their Hospitalization Unit. The great and difficult work that is carried out on a daily basis with the patients and families who pass through this unit is one of the most gratifying things I have been able to do to date".
