New Cudeca Charity Shop at Malaga Factory Shopping Centre
On the 12 September, we celebrated the opening of its 23rd Charity Shop at the Malaga Factory building (Outlet brands Centre) located at the Malaga Nostrum Retail Park. At the opening were present Carlos Bautista, Junta de Andalucía Health Delegate; Mar Torres, Malaga´s Town Hall Social Rights Department Technical Director;  Francisco José Martín Moreno,  Fuengirola´s Town Hall Social services, Immigration and Seniors Department Councellor and member of Malaga´s Council  and, on the part of Cudeca Hospice, Marisa Martín Roselló, Manager and Medical Director and Susan Hannam, Vice President. The shop has been decorated with recycled materials such as pallets, golf clubs and other furniture and there will be clothes, accessories and luxury brands for sale. All second hand and in good condition. Marisa Martín commented “we are an organisation whose basis are the volunteers and the Charity Shops, one of our  main financial sources, run thanks to the volunteers management and , of course, thanks to the donations that in a supportive manner we receive from the community". Our Charity shops Manager, Daniel Beaudet, mentioned “ a few weeks ago we launched a volunteer´s Recuitment Campaign with a very positive result, but we still need more volunteers to cover all the shifts, mainly on the weekday, Friday and Saturday afternoons”. People interested in collaborate as a volunteer can contact  the Volunteering Department at: voluntariado@cudeca.org or  at: 952 564 910 y 671 048 304. Cudeca Charity Shops: On 1992, Joan Hunt met a group of friends to gather some clothes and donate them to be sold at a garage- courtesy of a neighbour- in Puebla Andalucía urbanisation, Fuengirola. That was the beginning of a lovely project that has just opened, few days ago, its Charity Shop number 23 in the province of Málaga. Cudeca Charity shops are managed thanks to volunteers teams and are the most important  financial source of the Hospice. Also, exert an ecological work avoiding that every year ,tons of clothes end up on the trash and find a second use opportunity. All the benefits go entirely to offer professional medical care to patients and their families.
