3rd Intercultural Encounter in Istán
On Saturday May 26th Istan’s municipal Tourist Department celebrates the town’s 3rd Intercultural Encounter from 13:00 in the Plaza de Andalucia. The event sees the pueblo’s foreign residents sharing their customs, gastronomy, music and traditions with their Spanish neighbours and visitors from the coast, in aid of our hospice.
As in previous years there will be stands representing many different nations where the public can enjoy typical dishes, lovingly prepared for the occasion by Istan residents who hailed originally from Scotland, USA, South Africa, India and Nicaragua, to name just a few of the countries taking part.
Everyone who comes along will be able to savour the international home-cooked food, quite unlike the Spanish and Mediterranean gastronomy, in a friendly, relaxed, outdoor atmosphere with live entertainment by singer, and Istan resident, Helena Paul.
The tapas and drinks will have a symbolic price and all the funds raised will go integrally, for the third consecutive year, to CUDECA Hospice, the non-profit foundation whose mission is to care for patients with advanced cancer, while assisting their families.
Tickets for food and beverages will be on sale at Cudeca’s stand, at the entrance to the Plaza de Andalucia. These tickets, which cost just 1€ for a tapa or 0,50€ for a drink, can be exchanged at any of the stands. There will also be CUDECA collection tins on the stand for anyone who would like to make an additional contribution, and information available about CUDECA.
