The Cudeca Cancer Care Hospice is sincerely grateful to the hosts of the Starlite Gala, Antonio Banderas, Melanie Griffith and the lady behind Starlite and the charity Niños en Alegría, Sandra García San-Juan; to the patrons of the Foundation ‘Lagrimas y Favores’, friends, colleagues and people attending the gala, for all the support provided to Cudeca on Saturday 10th August in Marbella. The Starlite Gala presented by Anne Igartiburu and Imanol Arias, was attended by the entertainers Alejandro Sanz, Marta Sánchez, Sara Baras, Juan Peña and Roko, as well as the winner of Spanish 'Masterchef', Juan Manuel Sanchez, his judges and staff responsible for the menu. More than 60 famous faces also atended including those of; Valeria Mazza, Miguel Bosé, Eugenia Martínez de Irujo, Laura Sánchez, David Ascanio, Enrique Ponce and Paloma Cuevas; Patricia De Rato, Jose Serrano, Jordi Molla, Ana Fernández, Natalia Sánchez, María José Suárez, Remedios Cervantes, Ambassador of Cudeca; Arancha del Sol and Eva González, amongst others. The Cudeca Hospice consists of 60 professionals and 700 volunteers, providing cost-free care to more than 750 patients each year; 143 people treated within the facilities of the in-patient Unit; 2,593 home visits; 3,735 psychosocial interventions; 791 people supported via our counseling programs and a total of 8,000 people cared for since 1992.
This 4th edition of the Starlite Gala brought together more than 500 people, who have joined forces to raise funds for 4 different worthy charities: ‘Lagrimas y Favores’, 'Cudeca', 'Caritas' and 'Niños en Alegria'.
Antonio Banderas, who celebrated his Birthday that same day, commented that "it is a special night for the initiative that I defend' referring to his Foundation ‘Lagrimas y Favores’, whose purpose is to financially support the University of Malaga, Caritas and the Cudeca Cancer Care Hospice.
