Cudeca Hospice Walkathon 2014 – The Best Ever!
On Sunday 25th May Cudeca’s Walkathon took place with over 1100 walkers arriving to raise funds for CUDECA HOSPICE.
Thanks to the walkers, their sponsors, volunteers and businesses, over €22,000 was raised.
Present at this major event was Paloma García, the Mayoress of Benalmádena who thanked the community for their generosity. Also from the Benalmádena Town Hall were Councillors Juan Olea – Sports, Ana María Macías – Civic Participation, Inmaculada Hernández – Health and Francisco Salido – Social Welfare.
On this fantastic charity day, the entertainment was provided by Tarifa Plana, Funky Vocals, Nelson Music Academy, Soul Makers, the Rociero Choir and Naima Mar – Danza del Vientre.
The highlight of the day was the amazing paellas which were being made by professionals, helped by volunteers who worked tirelessly throughout the afternoon serving delicious portions of paella to hundreds of people. There were also children’s activities organized by Exploramás, a children’s bouncy castle provided by Zimmerman and a raffle with amazing prizes.
The winners of the Walkathon’s biggest group prize was won by C.B. Mijas with 24 walkers, who all received invitations to Bioparc Fuengirola, Selwo, Butterfly Park, Ice Rink Benalmádena, Parque Acuático de Mijas, Centro Principia and Tivoli World.
Prizes were also given to the walkers with the highest sponsorship money collected. The first prize went to Kim & Bente Gottlieb with €2,171. They won a 7 night stay in Mallorca with Diamond Resorts International. Second prize went to Chris Knapp with €1,325 who received a voucher from Xanit Hospital to the value of €1,000 and third prize went to Soroptimist International Women’s Group with €741, who won a 2 nights stay at Sunset Beach Club.
