The Bar  The Galloping Major (El Comandante Galopando), the first English Pub on the Costa del Sol is celebrating its 50th Anniversary by raising funds for Cudeca Cancer Care Hospice, by donating the takings of the drinks on that evening.
 
The Anniversary celebration is taking place at the Plaza de la Independencia in Torremolinos on Saturday 1st March, starting at 12.00 mid-day.  The Pub which has the typical English pub décor, was started in 1964 by an English couple, the husband having a military background.  Many years later, the Pub was taken over by Manuel Vega Trigo. Members of the Royal Family, Omar Shariff and other personalities from the 60’s and 70’s have enjoyed many summer nights in this Bar, which is now managed by Sergio Vega.
