Cudeca organises a retreat on spiritual accompaniment with Enric Benito
Prestigious palliativist Enric Benito is giving a weekend training workshop from 17th to 19th November at the Diocesan House in Malaga. The event is being organised by the Cudeca Institute under the title 'Workshop-Retreat: Accompanying Suffering in Clinical Spiritual Accompaniment'. The training is based on participatory methodology and therefore requires a small group of 25 committed participants.
These professionals will have the opportunity to enjoy a highly participative programme that includes the following topics:
1.- The companion (the professional). Self-diagnosis of resources (strengths) and needs in accompaniment. Experience of accompaniment and loss.
2.-The process of dying. Perspective and personal experience. Guided visit to the house of the deceased. Exercise of losses and/or personal choice, itinerary of the process and maps of the territory. The opportunity for healing.
3.- Accompaniment from the experience of palliative care. Suffering and spirituality. Attitudes of accompaniment: hospitality, presence and compassion.
4.-Attention to the process of dying: From chaos to transcendence. What happens when we die. Scientific evidence of the dying process. The accompaniment of family and relatives.
5.- Self-care of the caregiver. Self-awareness and the satisfaction of compassion. Cultivation of the inner curriculum (self-awareness, emotional balance, compassion). Commitment to self-care.
