Some objective information about our care
CUDECA's home palliative care support team gives you some objective information about our care and the way we work: At the moment, we have 7 home teams in Cudeca Hospice. One of them, the one we present to you today, is the "Costa del Sol 2" team, which take care from the area of Las Lagunas in Fuengirola to the border with the province of Cádiz; that is, covering part of Fuengirola, Mijas, Marbella, Istán, San Pedro de Alcántara, Estepona, Manilva, Casares and other towns in the area, to give you an example of the geographical distribution of a single team. Each team is made of a doctor and a nurse for each care area, as well as a psychologist and a social worker. The "Costa del Sol 2" team currently made up of of Dr. Irene Peregrín and the nurse, Ana Isabel Jiménez, who are currently caring for around 70 people.

It works in coordination with primary and secondary care through the figure of the liaison nurse. This allows us to provide multidisciplinary continuity of care for oncological and non-oncological patients, such as amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) or chronic heart failure (CHF) in the terminal stage.

Our professional care takes care to care for people and relieve complex symptoms related to the illnesses process such as breathlessness, pain, anxiety and many others.

The aim of the care provided by Cudeca encompasses both patient and family, so we work to achieve the highest level of wellbeing for the patient, taking into account their culture, values and beliefs; this is especially relevant in the Costa del Sol area, where a large percentage of the population is foreign.

In order to overcome the language barrier in those cases where the family cannot translate or where the language is not English, we have volunteers of different nationalities who work closely with us.

We send you our warmest greetings and hope that you will continue to support us in our care.

We kindly ask you to interpret the generalised use of the masculine for job descriptions in this article as inclusive language (welcoming both male and female genders).
