Posthumous recognition of the Popular Party Malaga to Joan Hunt
On 4th March, for Women's Day, the Popular Party of Malaga wanted to recognise the work of extraordinary women in different areas of society: charity, sport, health and business.
The PP of Malaga recognised posthumously the charity work of Joan Hunt, pioneer of palliative care and founder of Cudeca Hospice, an award that was collected by Dr. Marisa Martín, Chief Executive and Medical Director.
- The award for entrepreneurial work went to Carmen Bernal, president of the cooperative Nuestra Señora de las Virtudes de Fuente de Piedra and the only woman on the board of directors of Dcoop.
- The award for sport went to María Torres, the first Spanish world karate champion in kumite.
- Special award for the Maydan Association of Ukrainians in Malaga.
The event was attended by the current Minister of Presidency, Public Administrations and Interior of the Andalusian Regional Government, Elías Bendodo; the Mayor of Malaga, Francisco de la Torre; the Andalusian Government Delegate, Patricia Navarro; the General Secretary for Families of the Andalusian Regional Government, Ana Carmen Mata; and the Councillor for Citizen Participation of Malaga City Council, Ruth Sarabia.
We would like to thank the PP of Malaga for the important recognition of our founder and, in particular, congratulate Ruth Sarabia for organising the event.
