Dr. María Luisa Martín, Chief Executive and Medical Director, explained in detail the results from 2015, emphasizing that Cudeca were able to attend to 1,127 patients by their 5 home care medical teams. She also went over the last 10 years of the In-Patient unit where 1,700 patients have been cared for, with support from their family members. She commented on the importance of the support and collaboration of the volunteers in all the care programmes, and announced future lines of work such as the beginning of a Master’s Degree in Palliative Care, made possible by the unconditional support of the University of Málaga and the General Foundation of the University of Málaga; the improvement in care and coordination of palliative care for children and adolescents; and the creation of the Cudeca Centre for Research and Training, for 2017. In summary, it has been a good year for Cudeca’s special kind of caring.
Rafael Olalla, Deputy Chief Executive and Financial Director, happily presented the positive result for the third consecutive year in which income rose 14% compared to the previous year, due above all to the improvement from the charity shops, donations and legacies. "We are maintaining a tight control on expenses, however, there was a 7% increase over 2014, due principally to the rise in the number of patients attended to, which meant that we had to employ a 5th home care medical team, comprising of a doctor and nurse", affirmed Olalla.
Following on from this, the presentation of the Golden Pin for 2015 was made by Joan Hunt, Honorary President and Founder, to Alarma Universal, represented by the Director, Christina Nissen, in recognition of their commitment and mission to helping Cudeca Foundation since 2006, sponsoring the Cudeca Calendar.
In closing, Joan Hunt, Honorary President and Founder, thanked all those who attended for their interest and commitment to Cudeca Foundation and she asked that they please continue with their support.
