The World Palliative Care Day which will take place on Saturday, 14 October, is organized by the Global Palliative Care Alliance committee, a network of centres and national and regional organizations that support the development of Palliative Care. 

 

The Cudeca Cancer Care Hospice join this initiative and will celebrate its own charity concert
"Un Canto a la Vida - Voices for Hospices" on Saturday 14th October, with the charity performance of the pianist Cristina Alba Padial (Malaga), with a piano concert that will transport us to countries all over the world, a "Worldwide tour in 80 keys". This pianist from Malaga already collaborated with the Foundation last April in the 25th Anniversary Cudeca concert held at the Teatro Cervantes in Malaga together with the Malaga Symphony Orchestra, Berna Perles and Rodrigo Orrego.

 

“Voices for Hospice” will take place at 20:00h in the Unicaja María Cristina Concert Hall in Malaga, thanks to the invaluable altruistic collaboration of the Unicaja Foundation and the sponsorship of the Las Canteras Foundation.

The International Day of Palliative Care aims to raise funds and awareness in the community and ensure that all people around the world are entitled to quality care in the final journey of their lives. For this reason, more than 500 Palliative Care Centres will hold more than 1,000 solidarity concerts in over 74 countries. This year's global motto is "A Song to Life - Cudeca's Palliative Care eliminates suffering".

 

Cudeca Hospice is proud to be part of this great international event for the eighth time to promote awareness and support this humanitarian branch of medicine known as Palliative Care. Health professionals are trained to investigate and find cure for their patients; in palliative medicine, the emphasis is placed on the patient care during the final stage of their advanced and incurable illness, in addition to supporting their families during the illness and also in grief.

 

This important aspect of medicine has been Cudeca's objective since its conception in 1992. During these years Cudeca have treated more than 13,000 patients and built the Palliative Care Centre in Benalmadena. Each year, through their different assistance programs, Cudeca cared for more than 1,300 patients and their families.
